TEHRAN - Iran
on Monday (05/07/2012), to hang nine people in a
prison in Tehran after they were found guilty of trafficking involved "glass",
or methamphetamine, a statement
said Tehran prosecutor's office.
Seven of the men sentenced to death after a shipment seized 500 kilograms of drugs in a cargo ship to South East Asia, said the statement carried by local media. "Reza Golshani, Abolfazl Norouzi, Heydarkhani Majid, Majid Doosti, Mandehi Majid, Ali and Babak Pouravarz Alaee ... hanged for it," the statement said.
In a separate case, two brothers, and Behzad Nabavi Bahman, was executed after being found guilty of trafficking more than 420 kilograms of "glass," said the prosecutor's office.
The Islamic republic is one penerap death penalty in the world, with China, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Amnesty International's London-based in its annual report on the death penalty and executions in the world, published in March said that Iran has executed at least 360 people in 2011, three quarters of them for drug related offenses. The amount is up from at least as many as 252 people in 201
